Youngstown hosts pilot for a day

  • Published
The 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station hosted a pilot for a day Oct. 30, 2013.

Bruce Cellars visited the Air Force Reserve Command base where he was enlisted as the wing's 56th Pilot for a Day and named an honorary second lieutenant.

His trip included a base tour, a taxi ride down the flight strip in a C-130H Hercules aircraft and a tour of the base fire department that gave him the chance to control a crash-response-truck water cannon. Bruce also got to ride in a Marine Corps Humvee, complements of the Marine Corps Reserve Center here.

The 910th AW's pilot for a day program began in 2000 to help bring a ray of sunshine into the lives of children being treated for chronic or life-threatening conditions.
