914th participates in Exercise Cold Front

NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- The 914th Airlift Wing participated in "Exercise Cold Front," a self-assessment of operational requirements required under the new Air Force inspection system, Sept. 5-7.

The new inspection system requires each unit to self-assess and report to the wing commander their ability to comply with regulatory guidance and policy. Wings must also demonstrate the ability to accomplish the wartime mission, focusing on four major graded areas: managing resources, leading people, improving the unit, and executing the mission.

Exercise Cold Front was a validation of the 914th AW's ability to test executing the mission.

"I think (the exercise) went very well," said Lt. Col. Mark Ables, 914th AW combat readiness officer. "Everybody seemed engaged...people were really investing themselves in the activities--people were excited about going out there and doing their jobs."

"Not only does this test our objectives and capabilities, but it is a tremendous morale booster for all," said Master Sgt. Stephen Kaiser, 914th Aeromedical Staging Squadron inspection team member. "We want to do our jobs --this is our mission--our job, our passion."

"This exercise was an excellent opportunity to mix all our Air Force specialities and work together as a team," said Kaiser. "Typically our training is more segregated. Our Airmen did an outstanding job. We are growing. Participating in larger and joint exercise only strengthens our abilities."
