5 compete for DOD fire & emergency services awards

Two reservists and three civilians are representing Air Force Reserve Command in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Award competition.

Maj. Gen. David E. Tanzi, AFRC vice commander, announced the command nominees March 21.

The nominees by category include:

Civilian firefighter -- James Covell, 94th Mission Support Group, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga.

Military firefighter -- Staff Sgt. Barry E. Webster, 445th MSG, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio

Civilian fire officer -- James J. Kula, 440th MSG, Gen. Mitchell International Airport Air Reserve Station, Wis.

Military fire officer -- Master Sgt. Jude Hodges, 482nd MSG, Homestead ARB, Fla.

Stephen E. Check, 914th MSG, Niagara Falls IAP ARS, N.Y., is the command nominee for the firefighter heroism award.
