Reservist earns Air Force award for saving money Published March 21, 2008 WASHINGTON -- A reservist from Dover Air Force Base, Del., saved the Air Force more than $1 million and earned a service-level award. Senior Master Sgt. Andrew W. Calvello of the 512th Maintenance Squadron is a recipient of the 2007 Air Force Productivity Excellence Award for developing a new procedure to replace auxiliary power unit tailpipe assemblies on C-5 aircraft. Officials estimate the idea will save the Air Force more than $1 million in the first year alone. "(The procedure) also provided positive impact to the 512th Airlift Wing mission and enhanced the overall success of the Air Force Reserve Command and the Air Force," wrote Lt. Gen. John A. Bradley, AFRC commander, in a memo to commanders. "I am proud to have an Airman of his caliber and professionalism on our team." (Air Force Reserve Command News Service)
