Ohio reservists complete aerial spray mission in Louisiana

  • Published
Air Force Reserve aircrews and C-130s from the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, sprayed more than 770,000 acres in seven Louisiana parishes from Sept. 21 to Oct. 2.

Reservists from the wing's 757th Airlift Squadron dropped pesticides to control insects from spreading disease in areas hit by Hurricane Ike. The unit received orders Sept. 13 to deploy C-130s equipped with modular aerial spray systems.

Unit entomologists pinpointed the pests and areas to be sprayed. They checked the systems to make sure they would apply the prescribed treatment rates and flew on the missions to ensure the pesticide was applied at the proper levels. (Air Force Reserve Command News Service)
