Arctic reservists deploy to Guam Published Jan. 10, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Rhiannon Willard 477th Fighter Group / Public Affairs ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Six F-22A Raptor maintainers and two weapons loaders from the 477th Fighter Group here deployed to Andersen AFB, Guam, Jan. 9. The Arctic reservists will work with Elmendorf's 3rd Wing as it provides theater security in support of U.S. Pacific Command objectives in the western Pacific region. Eight Air Force Reserve Command pilots are scheduled to join the maintainers over the course of the deployment. The 477th FG is a classic associate unit. It flies and maintains F-22A's with Elmendorf's host wing. The group is responsible for recruiting, training, developing and retaining Citizen Airmen to support the Regular Air Force unit and to meet Expeditionary Air Force mission requirements. While deployed, the reservists will integrate with and support the 3rd Wing's 90th Fighter Squadron as it deploys F-22s and personnel. (Air Force Reserve Command News Service)
