Air Force reservists from the 302nd Airlift Wing left here Oct. 26 for Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to support Operation Joint Enterprise.

The operation involves Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard crews flying critical airlift missions as the Regular Air Force transitions to the new C-130J Hercules transport aircraft. The conversion to the new tactical airlift aircraft is slated to be completed before the summer of 2010.

The 38th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron stages out of Ramstein AB and provides airlift to U.S. Europe Command, U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Central Command.

Operation Joint Enterprise began as an effort to fly troops and supplies into Bosnia-Herzegovina in the mid-1990s. It later expanded to include missions into other countries in Europe, Africa and Asia.
