Col. Stephen Goeman, 445th Airlift Wing commander, had the opportunity to tour and meet with employees of TAC Enterprises, Springfield, Ohio, Dec. 19.

TAC Enterprises is a not for profit organization that provides life skills, meaningful employment and housing connections to enhance the lives of people with disabilities. The community and business partnerships of TAC Enterprises enable people with disabilities to contribute to society through meaningful employment and increased independence, self-confidence and dignity.

TAC Enterprises is the primary supplier of air cargo nets to the Air Force. These cargo nets are employed by the Air Force for load management on the 463L pallet used on the C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III and the C-130 Hercules.

During their visit to TAC, Goeman and a handful of wing Airmen interacted with TAC employees, watching them repair and sort cargo netting.

Since 1984, TAC has performed a vital defense operational role by repairing damaged air cargo nets to like-new condition and manufacturing new nets to meet all of the demanding airlift requirements of the Air Force. According to the TAC Enterprises website, the organization manufactures more than 100,000 new cargo nets and repairs more than 24,000 nets annually for the Air Force. In 2008 alone, TAC employees manufactured more than 90,000 new cargo nets for the Air Force; more than 120,000 were sorted and repaired.
