The 315th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office won two awards in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards competition for broadcast and production excellence.

The videos selected for the awards were a mission video for children, called "Mission Airlift," and a special segment of the wing's television news program called "Extreme C-17 Factory."

"This is a huge honor for our office to be selected for these awards," said Lt. Col. Bill Walsh, 315th Airlift Wing chief of public affairs. "These videos were truly a team effort and they show the community who the men and women of the 315th really are."

According to the Telly website, the Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

Nearly 11,000 entries from 50 states and numerous countries were submitted to this year's Telly Awards.

"Mission Airlift" was awarded a Telly for best Non-Broadcast Public Relations Video and was developed out of necessity. "When we conducted tours of the base for kids, we really didn't have anything to show them in order to give an overall overview of what we do," said 2nd Lt. Jeff Kelly, one of the video's writers. "This video is a perfect mix of fun and excitement to get kids excited about what we do."

"Extreme C-17 Factory" was awarded a Telly in the Broadcast Television Category and was a special edition of the wing's quarterly television program, Troop Talk. The program showcased the manufacturing and final delivery of a C-17 Globmaster III to Joint Base Charleston, S.C.

"I am proud of these productions," said Michael Dukes, producer and editor of both videos. "A lot of work and creativity went into making these videos to showcase what our people are doing."

"Mission Airlift" was produced by Michael Dukes, written and directed by Capt. Wayne Capps, co-written and hosted by Kelly. "Extreme C-17 Factory" was produced by Mr. Dukes, written and directed by Walsh.

Both productions were a team effort by the 315th AW Public Affairs office.
