Command chooses Key Spouse of Year Published June 1, 2012 ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- The wife of a reservist from Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass., is Air Force Reserve Command's 2011 Key Spouse of the Year. Stephanie Smith is married to Lt. Col. Raymond Smith, a C-5 pilot in the 337th Airlift Squadron at Westover. The command announced Smith's award selection in a memorandum May 24. She co-chairs the base's Key Spouse program with Katie Vautrain, wife of Col. Steven Vautrain, 439th Airlift Wing commander. Smith is credited with revitalizing the base program by continuing to recruit and train new members. When reservists in the wing were mobilized in 2010, she worked with other program members to contact the families of deployed and mobilized reservists. According to a Westover news release, Smith volunteers at base events and donates her time to charitable community events and causes. Smith and Key Spouses from other major commands will be recognized in August at the Air Force's annual Caring for People Forum at Joint Base Andrews, Md. There are more than 4,000 Key Spouse volunteers in the Air Force.
