Arctic Care
Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Lisa Lewis, a medical specialist with Air Force Reserve Command's 22nd Air Force at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., checks a patient's blood pressure before his medical appointment at the clinic in Port Lions, Alaska. Sergeant Lewis was part of a 70-person medical team participating in Operation Arctic Care 2008. During the week-long, Department of Defense Innovative Readiness Training deployment in March 2008, doctors, nurses, optometrists, dentists, veterinarians and their assistants from the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard saw and treated hundreds of patients who live in the remote, underserved villages of Kodiak Island.
