953rd Reserve Support Squadron

VISION:  Focused Joint Capabilities and Concept Development, Joint Warfighter Training and Joint Task Force Support.


MISSION STATEMENT:  
Recruit, develop and deploy highly trained Joint Task Force planners and Joint Staff trainers across the Total Force spectrum.

MISSION:  
The 953rd RSPTS augments the USTRANSCOM, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC) Reserve force by providing flexible, employable packages composed of personnel who are experienced in joint operations, understand joint doctrine and are trained in the joint operation planning process.The 953rd also augments Joint Staff-Hampton Roads Joint Reserve Unit, Virginia, by providing experienced joint planners and operators to train and exercise COCOM Headquarters and Joint Task Force Headquarters in preparation for no-notice global force res
ponse.

History

The 953rd RSPTS was constituted on June 16, 1997, and activated and assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command on July 1, 1997.
Upon the disestablishment of Joint Forces Command in 2012, the 953rd was reorganized as a Joint Integrated Associate Unit to support U.S. Transportation Command and Joint Staff-Hampton Roads, Virginia.
The 953rd is split between Norfolk Naval Station, Virginia, and the Joint Staff J7 in Suffolk, Virginia, and is comprised of more than 80 Air Force traditional and Active Guard and Reserve members.
The 953rd RSPTS recruits the personnel from diverse backgrounds and skill sets from all directorates (Personnel, Intelligence, Operations, Logistics, Plans & Policies, Communications, and Public Affairs).

The JECC provides mission-tailored, joint capability packages to Combatant Commanders in order to facilitate rapid establishment of Joint Force Headquarters, fulfill Global Response Force execution and bridge joint operational requirements.

JOINT STAFF DIRECTORATES

JOINT STAFF J3
Facilitates the Department of Defense's Global Force Management through long-term scheduling for Expeditionary Force structures and short-term responses for crisis and contingencies. Also contributes expertise on deployment / mobilization processes specific for the Reserve.

JOINT STAFF J7
Provides mission-ready, joint capable reserve force members to augment current exercise and training development capacity and support capabilities.

JOINT STAFF ACT
953rd reservists provide flexibility and efficiency to the Allied Command Transformation's Integrated Air and Missile Defense Initiatives which supports the Phased-Adaptive Approach for Missile Defense in Europe in accordance with the National Security Strategy.
Allied Command Transformation promotes and leads many initiatives designed to transform NATO's military structure, its forces, capabilities and doctrine. The 953d supports education, training and exercises to ACT sub-commands, the Joint Warfare Centre, Joint Forces Training Centre, and the Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre.
