Cathleen Snow) Rescue Airmen showcase combat-search-and-rescue skills for Cocoa Beach Air Show by Senior Airman Natasha Dowridge 920th Rescue Wing Public Affairs 9/25/2012 - PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.  -- Jumping from an aircraft isn't something beach goers see on a daily basis. However, Pararescue Airmen from the 920th Rescue Wing here treated sun lovers to a combat search-and-rescue demonstration during the 2012 Cocoa Beach Air Show Sept. 22-23.  Air Force Reservists from the 920th RQW  showcased their unique capabilities to execute a combat search-and-rescue mission, as well as the hardware that makes the Rescue Reservists unique to the military. Pararescue Airmen performed a freefall jump from an HC-130P/N King refueling aircraft at 3,000 feet and skillfully landed in designated drop zone in the Atlantic Ocean. They also fast- roped out of two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters at 30 feet. To wrap up their demonstrations, an HC-130 and two of the wing's Pave Hawk helicopters simulated a mid-air refuel. The 920th RQW provides safety and security surveillance of the Eastern Launch Range during all rocket launches from the Space Coast as well as provides civil search-and-rescue support for those who are lost or in distress.
