2/10/2012 - LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- After nearly two years of preparations, the 433rd Airlift Wing received its Operational Readiness Inspection results here on Thursday.
The Alamo Wing completed the inspection with an overall rating of "satisfactory."
Air Mobility Command inspectors were here Jan. 29 through Feb. 5 to evaluate the base on its ability to position, employ and sustain the force while operating in a wartime environment.
"This ORI validates our unit's high level of combat readiness and is a reflection of your professionalism, selfless service and technical expertise in the execution of your duties," said Col. Aaron Vangelisti, 433rd AW interim commander in a message to Alamo Wing members. "This was a team effort - every single one of the more than 2,800 members of this wing played a vital role in this achievement."
Throughout the briefing there was one common thread displayed by all members of the 433rd AW- a positive attitude.
"I want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication in representing the Alamo Wing, but most importantly they did it with great attitudes, professionalism, and unit pride which were highlighted by all of the inspectors," said Lt. Col. David Scott, 433rd Wing Readiness officer, who coordinated the wing's preparation for the ORI with the other participating units, the 403rd Wing from Kessler Air Force Base, Miss., and 165th Airlift Wing from Savannah, Ga.
"I am extremely proud of the Alamo Wing," said Scott. "It was truly an honor and a privilege to work with such a great team of professionals. There was never a doubt in our minds as to the outcome of our inspection. It was a testament to the many long hours put in by the Unit Deployment Managers, the Unit Health Monitors, and many others to ensure we have a viable and deployable force."
