Homestead reservist, employer honored by AFA

9/27/2011 - HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. -- A reservists here and his civilian employer received a prestigious award Sept. 19 during the Air Force Association's 2011 Air and Space Technology Exposition in Washington D.C.

Tech. Sgt. Jeffrey Lafreniere, 482nd Civil Engineering Squadron and Mr. Kevin O'Shea, AT&T in Coral Springs, Fla., were honored with the AFA's Citizen Airman Award.

This award recognizes an Air National Guardsman or Air Force Reservist who makes outstanding contributions while deployed and also recognizes the civilian employer who provided significant support during that period.

Lafreniere, an emergency management craftsman, was deployed from January to August 2010 with the 556th CES, Kirkuk, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
