POPE ARMY AIRFIELD, N.C. -- The 440th Airlift Wing financial services office here received
the Fiscal Year 2014 Air Reserve Command Financial Service Office of the Year
Award for outstanding service.
The office was noted for having zero discrepancies for reserve pay, civilian pay
and the Defense Travel System, ensuring voucher submissions were submitted
correctly, saving $15,000, and completing 3,000 - 5,000 pay transactions
monthly with orders processed in under two days.
"The unit's accomplishments exemplify the highest standards of dedication
and excellence," said Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson, Air Force Reserve Command
commander. "Its members embody the core values of the Air Force and serve
as an example of professionalism, leadership, and commitment in our reserve community."
Brig. Gen. James Scanlan, 440th AW commander, presented the award
and addressed the financial service team for their achievement during the Jan.
26 staff meeting. "The volume that our finance office can handle and the systems you work
with - you guys do an extraordinary job," said Scanlan.
Marvin Ruth, 440 AW financial services officer, was proud the office received
the award.
"With many recent changes, including the implementation of the Defense
Travel System, and Automated Time and Attendance Production System, it is
certainly an honor to be selected Financial Services Office of the Year,"
said Ruth.
