Air Force Reserve general responds to call to duty Published Oct. 21, 2005 ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga, -- When the mobilization assistant to the commander of Air Force Materiel Command retired from his civilian job March 31, he could have taken a long summer vacation. Instead, Maj. Gen. Keith W. Meurlin, former manager of Washington’s Dulles International Airport, took an extended summer job as the acting AFMC vice commander at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, from June 30 to Aug. 29. The general, who had been MA to the AFMC commander since June 2004, stepped in to serve as vice commander when Lt. Gen. Dick Reynolds retired. General Meurlin joined the inactive reserve in June 1977 and transferred to Air Force Reserve Command’s 512th Airlift Wing at Dover AFB, Del., where he spent the next 11 years serving in a variety of command and supervisory roles. He served briefly as MA to the commander of AFRC from February to August 2002. (AFRC News Service)
