AFRC announces 2017 Medical Award winners

Air Force Reserve Command has announced the 2017 Medical Award selections.

Individual winners, by category, are:

Outstanding Field Grade Officer assigned to a Reserve Medical Unit: Major Mark A. Powers, 413th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia.

Outstanding Company Grade Officer assigned to a Reserve Medical Unit: Captain Jonathan A. Polos, 934th ASTS, Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station, Minnesota.

Outstanding Senior Noncommissioned Officer assigned to a Reserve Medical Unit: Master Sgt. Kenneth M. Heng, 944th Medical Squadron, Luke AFB, Arizona.

Outstanding Noncommissioned Officer assigned to a Reserve Medical Unit: Tech. Sgt. Tyler M. Dean, 459th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.

Outstanding Airman assigned to a Reserve Ground Medical Unit: Staff Sgt. Peter L. Simon, 934th ASTS, Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station.

Outstanding Air Reserve Technician Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Hope A. Lapoczka, 315th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.

Outstanding Air Reserve Technician Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Sherri A. Smith, 459th ASTS, Joint Base Andrews.

Mentorship Excellence Award: Maj. Brian R. Allen, 459th ASTS, Joint Base Andrews.

The following units have been selected as recipients of the FY 2017 AFRC Medical Awards:

Outstanding Ground Medical Unit with a Physical Exam Package: 911th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania.

Outstanding Reserve Medical Unit without a Physical Exam Package: 459th ASTS, Joint Base Andrews.
