More than 10 members of the Air Force Reserve’s 512th Airlift Wing departed this afternoon in support of the Hurricane Irma humanitarian relief effort.

Reserve Citizen Airmen, with career specialties in logistics and civil engineering are scheduled to report to Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida. The reserve base is a staging area for troops, equipment and supplies that are being flown into Florida and other areas.

“I’m extremely proud of our Citizen Airmen and their ability to step up to the plate and respond so quickly to our nation in need,” said Col. Craig Peters, 512th AW commander. “It’s this type of strategic relevancy that makes the Liberty Wing and the Air Force Reserve so valuable.”

As part of Air Mobility Command and Air Force Reserve Command, Team Dover provides a nucleus of experienced personnel to manage, coordinate and control air mobility assets. They are the front line of humanitarian aid, carrying out the commander’s orders and back-channeling data to keep the mission flowing. More Dover reservists are poised and ready to answer the call if needed.
