The Air Force Reserve’s 445th Airlift Wing C-17 Globemaster III and crew departed here Monday en route to Grissom Air Reserve Base to pick up additional supplies for transport to Florida in support of Hurricane Irma relief efforts.

The aircraft, loaded with four Reserve Citizen Airmen from the wing’s Force Support Squadron, a pallet of meals ready to eat, water and one ISU 90 loaded with cots, left Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to pick up additional supplies in Indiana before heading to Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida.

Reserve Citizen Airmen offer unique capabilities to the federal effort including search and rescue and personnel recovery, airlift, air refueling, medical care and aeromedical evacuation support.

Two crews are currently on standby to support additional Hurricane Irma relief missions.

A total force team of active duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve Command Airmen are working side-by-side with federal, state, local, and international mission partners to ease suffering and assist in the nation’s and international community’s recovery from Hurricane Irma.
