Members of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board visited the 433rd Airlift Wing April 11, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. The visit consisted of a wing mission brief given by Col. David Enfield, Mission Support Group commander, followed by a tour of a C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft.

Some members of the SAB have had direct influence with the new C-5M conversion.

"Our division developed the color multifunction displays you see in the C-5 cockpit today, so its very cool to see," said David Homan, Air Force Research Lab branch chief. "The 433rd AW is doing a great job with a fantastic piece of equipment."

Keith Numbers, a Air Force Research Lab aerospace engineer, was surprised with the ground refuel rate. "I was impressed at how quickly they could refuel the C-5, knowing how many pounds of fuel they use, 30 minutes seems really fast."

The SAB is a Federal Advisory Committee that provides independent advice on matters of science and technology relating to the Air Force mission, reporting directly to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
