SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE N.C. -- The 916th Air Refueling Wing accepted its first of twelve KC-46A Pegasus aircraft on June 12, 2020 in a small ceremony marking the occasion. The Chief of Air Force Reserve, Lt. Gen. Richard W. Scobee, and his Senior Enlisted Advisor, Chief Master Sgt. Timothy C. White Jr., served as delivery officials and were on board the aircraft as it arrived.

“The 916th Air Refueling Wing is honored to receive the first of twelve KC-46A Pegasus aircraft for the Air Force Reserve Command. A modern aircraft with 21st century technology, the KC-46A provides extended mission capacity and range as well as improved capabilities to deliver rapid global mobility to joint and partnered operations,” said Col. Stephen Lanier, 916th ARW Commander.

Due to Department of Defense guidance, and North Carolina restrictions in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak, the arrival ceremony was closed to the public. The wing will have an open house event at a later date when all can gather together safely.

The KC-46A provides improved capabilities, including boom and drogue refueling on the same sortie; worldwide navigation and communication; cargo capacity on the entire main deck floor; receiver air refueling; improved force protection and multi-point air refueling capability.
