Command picks best in communications & information

A communications and information award selection board convened here and selected 18 individuals and two units as Air Force Reserve Command C&I winners for 2005.

Command officials announced the award selections Feb. 16.

Maj. Brian Lowmiller, 919th Communications Squadron, Eglin AFB Field 3, Fla., was named the best field grade officer, and Capt. Roy Rockwell, Headquarters AFRC, Robins AFB, won the company grade officer category.

The command picked the top enlisted people in the following categories:

In communication electronics systems, airman – Senior Airman Moises Soto, 514th CS, McGuire AFB, N.J.; NCO – Tech. Sgt. Gregory Dolphin, 4th Combat Camera Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, Calif.; and senior NCO – Master Sgt. Byron Wrenn, Headquarters AFRC, Robins AFB.

In information management, NCO – Tech. Sgt. Marilyn Kinoshita, 624th Regional Support Group, Hickam AFB, Hawaii, and senior NCO – Master Sgt. Robert Steele Jr., Headquarters Air Reserve Personnel Center, Denver.

In communications-computer systems, airman – Senior Airman Sack Sounakhene, 310th Communications Flight, Schreiver AFB, Colo.; NCO – Staff Sgt. Aaron Walker, 716th CF, Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C.; and senior NCO – Senior Master Sgt. Bruce Koss, 716th CF, Seymour Johnson AFB.

In visual information, airman – Senior Airman Francisco Govea, 4th CTCS, March ARB; NCO – Tech. Sgt. Anthony Rizo, 4th CTCS, March ARB; and senior NCO – Senior Master Sgt. Kim Allain, 4th CTCS, March ARB.

Four civilians received awards. They are technician – Barbara Therrien, 457th Fighter Squadron, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Carswell Field, Texas; assistant – Andrew Hayes, 919th CS, Eglin AFB Field 3; specialist – Charlsyee Yoshimoto, 624th RSG, Hickam AFB; and manager – Phillip LeFrancois, Headquarters AFRC.

The 94th CF from Dobbins ARB, Ga., and March ARB’s 4th CTCS received the Lt. Gen. Harold W. Grant awards in the flight and squadron categories, respectively. These awards recognize communications and information organizations for excellent support to the Air Force mission.

Staff Sgt. Jorge Rodriguez of March ARB’s 4th CTCS captured the Darryl G. Winters Award. This annual award recognizes the top person from the fields of still, motion picture and video photography. (AFRC News Service)
