Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the success of the Air Force Reserve Yellow Ribbon Program could be summarized by one key statistic—more than 95 percent of attendees said Yellow Ribbon events benefited their family. This success was built on in-person events where deployers, their loved ones, leaders and subject-matter experts gathered in a conference-like setting for two days of training, education and networking on people-centric topics related to Reserve deployments. But when coronavirus shut down most military travel, the Yellow Ribbon team was forced to change their ways.

As Christmas quickly approaches, the people of Belize received a much needed gift, in the form of nearly 7,200 lbs. of medical aid delivered via Charleston based C-17. The donated humanitarian aid, consisting of mostly surgical equipment, was delivered by the 315th Airlift Wing from Joint Base Charleston, S.C., and was estimated to help more than a half-million people in Belize.

In Aug. 2012, Senior Airman John May joined the Air Force Reserve at Little Rock Air Force Base as a Traditional Reservist working at first with the maintenance squadron and then with the 96th Aerial Port Squadron. He was training for his first deployment with the unit when he was diagnosed with a rare cancer called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in April 2018.
