3 Teen Leadership Summits planned in 2011
The Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard announced the 2011 AFR/ANG Teen Leadership Summit locations Jan. 5. The AFR/ANG Teen Leadership Summit locations this summer are in Dahlonega, Ga.; Estes, Colo.; and Washington, D.C. The summits combine high-adventure activities with leadership classes to allow teens to tap into their leadership potential and discover hidden strengths while developing a sense of belonging to the Air Force community.

Band of Air Force Reserve gets Emmy nod for Holiday Notes from Home
Band of the Air Force Reserve vocalist Technical Sergeant Alyson Jones' lifetime dream to sing on the Grand Ol Opry's stage came true as she sang holiday favorites during the Emmy award nominated 2009 Holiday Notes from Home holiday concert in Nashville, Tenn. The annual concert was broadcast on Gospel Music Channel and American Forces Network. In addition to the Air Force Reserve Band and Air Force Strings, Amy Grant, Brian McKnight and Take 6 participated in the show, paying tribute to military men and women serving around the world. Two C-130 Hercules aircraft from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., punctuate a mass enlistment ceremony by flying over Turner Field prior to an Atlanta Braves' homegame Sept. 28, 2010. Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band will bring their unique blend of Southern rock, soul, country, heavy metal and hip hop music to American service members and their families this holiday season when they headline Tour for the Troops 2009, formerly known as Operation Season's Greetings. Kid Rock and his band will entertain American troops in Southwest Asia and families in Europe Nov. 30 to Dec. 12. Joining them will be comedian Carlos Mencia, singer/songwriter Jessie James, and members of the Band of the Air Force Reserve.
