Nov. 19, to Dec. 22, 1978 -- Two HC-130Ns and 38 Reserve aircrew members, medics, and aerial porters from Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Charleston Air Force Base, S. C., Dover Air Force Base, Del. and Westover Air Force Base, Mass. evacuated survivors and victims from Georgetown, Guyana, after violence broke out at the People's Temple Agricultural Mission in Jonestown.

Reserve supports Operation Homecoming from Vietnam.

Feb. - March 1973 -- Air Force Reserve C-141 and C-9 associate aircrews, medical, aeromedical, casualty assistance, legal, chaplain, and intelligence personnel supported Operation Homecoming: the return of American POWs from North Vietnam.

Reservists mobilize for Korean War

From 1950-1953, more than 147,000 reservists were mobilized to augment the active duty. Both the 452nd Bombardment Wing, Long Beach Municipal Airport, Calif., and the 437th Troop Carrier Wing, O?Hare International Airport, Ill., saw extensive combat service in Korea.

Operation Sixteen Ton in 1956

The Air Force Reserve began to perform real world missions as part of its training in Operation Sixteen Ton; this was in support of the US Coast Guard.
