Personal performance: Band of AF Reserve brings holiday cheer to veterans
The Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve's Brass Quintet brought holiday cheer to veterans at the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dublin, Dec. 13, 2010. The Reserve Brass ensemble performed four mini-concerts of holiday carols and sing-alongs. This visit is just a small way of saying thanks to veterans for all they have done for our country, said Master Sgt. Mike Andrew, trumpet player and non-commissioned officer-in-charge of the Brass Quintet. The Brass Quintet is the most versatile, small ensemble of the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Teens descend on AFRC for leadership council meeting
Teenagers from around the nation gathered at Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., for the first AFR Teen Leadership Council meeting Nov. 12, 2010. The teens, selected to represent their peers as members of the council, received briefings on Air Force Reserve Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program from Lt. Col. Robert Leivers, a chaplain from the 310th Space Wing, Schriever AFB, Colo., and had a chance to talk to Lt. Gen. Charles Stenner Jr., AFRC commander, about issues facing children of Air Force Reservists. The following day, TLC members attended a Yellow Ribbon event in Hilton Head, S.C., where they assisted the South Carolina Operation Military Kids organization by providing activities for school-aged children of Reservists.
