050902-F-5515J-002 Volunteers from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., shuttle a patient who arrived there on a C-141 assigned to Air Force Reserve Commands 445th Airlift Wing, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. About 100 patients were airlifted to Dobbins for transportation to hospitals in Atlanta, one of 17 cities in the country taking 2,500 Hurricane Katrina victims. At Dobbins, the patients went to the 80th Aerial Port Squadron building where Veterans Administration medical people assessed their conditions before they were transported by ambulance to one of 38 Atlanta hospitals. Air Force reservists volunteer for ship duty 050813-F-6504N-001 Staff Sgt. Robert Brown, an Air Force reservist with the 624th Civil Engineer Squadron, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, prepares to drill out a deck plug on the teakwood deck of the USS Missouri. More than 100,000 deck plugs have been replaced since restoration of the Iowa-class battleship began in 1998. Sergeant Brown is one of many members of Air Force Reserve Commands 624th Regional Support Group, who have volunteered their time this summer to help restore the historic battleship docked at Ford Island, Oahu. Restoration efforts on the ship, popularly known as the "Mighty Mo," stepped up recently in anticipation of celebrations scheduled for Sept. 2, commemorating the 60th anniversary of its role as the site of Japan's unconditional surrender to Allied Forces, which ended World War II.
