The Readiness Management Group (RMG) is a subset of the Air Force Reserve. Our mission is to seamlessly integrate wartime-ready Indivdual Reserve forces to meet Air Force and Combatant Commander requirements.

Founded in 2005, the RMG is a paradigm-breaking approach to increasing readiness of the Individual Reserve program. Its centralized IR advocacy propelled MAJCOM partnerships and infused IR tenants throughout Air Force policies. The organization boasts broad-range expertise that includes personnel, finance, medical and accession support while executing shared administrative control of the Individual Reservists who live and work around the world.

The RMG provides a chain of command with accountability to the AFRC commander and standardizes processes for service members in the program. IRs are assigned to funded positions at active-duty component organization, while Participating Individual Ready Reservists (PIRRs) are assigned to Headquarters Air Reserve Personnel Center and work at active-component organizations. Both IRs and PIRRs are trained to augment the active-component missions and are rated by active-duty supervisors.

There are more than 3,600 total enlisted and more than 5,400 officer authorizations within the RMG. IMAs and PIRRs support 10 major commands, nine combatant commands, 38 agencies and 206 supporting roles. To be fully ready for mobilization, Reservists must met annual medical and dental requirements, have a current security clearance, and are fully-qualified in their Air Force Specialty.
