A subset of the Air Force Reserve, RMG aimed to integrate wartime-ready Individual Reserve forces to meet Air Force and Combatant Commander requirements. RMG provided a chain of command with accountability to the AFRC commander and standardized processes for service members in the program. IRs were assigned to active-duty organizations, while Participating Individual Ready Reservists (PIRRs) were assigned to HQ Air Reserve Personnel Center and work at active-component organizations.
There were more than 3,600 total enlisted and more than 5,400 officer authorizations within the RMG at its inactivation. IMAs and PIRRs supported 10 major commands, nine combatant commands, 38 agencies and 206 supporting roles.
