INITIATION OF AF IMTS 2096
This guide is intended to assist units in completing AF IMT 2096 for Air Force Reserve Individual Mobilization Augmentees. The completed form is processed through HQ RMG offices for review and to update personnel data system records.
AF IMTs 2096 should be submitted no later than 10 duty days after the effective date of action. AF IMTs 2096 may be accepted with effective dates backdated no more than six months, on a case by case basis. Documentation fully justifying the delay must be attached to backdated requests. AF IMTs 2096 received that are backdated more than six months or are without required documentation may be returned to requester with no action taken.
AF IMTs 2096 should originate with the IMA's supervisor, and be completed with assistance from the unit training manager. AF IMTs 2096 should then be forwarded to the unit control point where the action is reviewed and validated against unit manning documents. Section VI must be completed by the unit commander or designated representative.
The information in this guide is from AFMAN 36-2622, Vol 1, Personnel Data System End Users Manual; AFI 36-2101, Classifying Military Personnel; AFI 36-2201, Developing, Managing and Conducting Training; and current HQ RMG operating procedures.

PROCESSING / ROUTING AF IMTS 2096
The final processing and reviewing authority for AF IMTs 2096 submitted for IMAs is HQ RMG/DPMT. This office will track and distribute them to the appropriate OPR/POC. AF IMT Forms 2096 should be scanned and sent via e-mail to the Airman's IMA Program Manager and/or BIMAA for coordination, who will in-turn forward RMG.DPMT@US.AF.MIL for processing; faxed copies will be accepted. Pen and ink changes should be kept to a minimum in the interest of clarity; this includes any administrative changes, which must be initialed, once the form has been received for processing. HQ RMG will return illegible AF Forms 2096, and those not completed according to the examples above.
Recommend units with assigned IMAs establish a control point or unit monitor who will initial and date the unit coordination block in section VIII of the AF IMT 2096. The unit should remove and retain the unit suspense copy in a file until the completed action is returned upon final processing from HQ RMG.
