Colonel (Dr.) Joseph Anderson is the Command Surgeon at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. As Command Surgeon he conducts major command level policy development for administration, training, and readiness of medical and aeromedical evacuation programs. He is responsible to the AFRC commander for all professional and administrative activities of the AFRC medical program. He manages an $80 million annual budget and leads a staff of 48 personnel. Colonel Anderson provides programming and oversight of medical professional and financial resources for three numbered air forces and 80 reserve medical units, and he directs health services and medical standards for 60,000 reservists.

Colonel Anderson was commissioned as the Distinguished Graduate through ROTC at Charleston Southern University in 1986. He completed his medical training at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 1990. Colonel Anderson also completed residency training in Family Medicine, Aerospace Medicine, and General Preventive Medicine. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Aerospace Medicine. He commanded medical units at the squadron and group levels in the continental United States, overseas, and in a combat zone. He is a Chief Physician and a Chief Flight Surgeon with over 900 hours in 25 airframes.
