COLONEL STEVEN B. FULAYTAR
Col. Steven B. Fulaytar is Commander, Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service and Director of Recruiting, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. He serves as advisor to the AFRC Commander, Vice-Commander, senior staff and numbered Air Force and wing commanders on all matters relating to recruiting. He commands and exercises oversight for more than 450 military and civilian personnel worldwide at 43 main operating locations and numerous satellite offices.
Colonel Fulaytar entered the Air Force in 1982 as an air traffic controller assigned to the Alabama Air National Guard. He received his commission from the Auburn University Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1987 and subsequently attended Undergraduate Pilot Training, graduating in 1989. His career spans a variety of safety, training, management and operations assignments while serving on active duty, with the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.
His first assignment was to 232nd Combat Communications Squadron in the Alabama Air National Guard. He went on to serve with the 55th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron as a WC-135 pilot responsible for performing special reconnaissance missions in support of the 1963 Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. During his assignment with the 55th WRS, he deployed with them in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Colonel Fulaytar also served as an airfield operations flight commander and a T-37 instructor pilot at Columbus AFB, Miss. After separating from the active duty Air Force, Colonel Fulaytar served in the Air Force Reserve as a C-130 pilot. Staff tours include assignments at Air University, CENTCOM and HQ, AFRC. He is also an air transport pilot with a major U.S. Airline. The colonel is a senior pilot, with more than 7,500 hours in the WC-135, T-37, C-130, B-727 and MD-88.
Colonel Fulaytar was born in Waco, Texas. He is married to the former Samantha Kirchner of San Diego. They have two children: Mark and Justin.
