Colonel Steven B. Parker is Commander, 340th Flying Training Group (U.S. Air Force Reserve), Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. In this role, he is responsible for the overall success of Air Education and Training Command and Air Force Reserve Command Reserve Instructor Program, which trains and provides experienced pilots and jump masters to augment Air Education and Training Command's instructor force. Colonel Parker commands over 550 personnel in six squadrons, located at bases throughout the United States. The 340th reports to Air Force Reserve Command during peacetime and to Nineteenth Air Force (Air Education and Training Command) in the event of mobilization.

Colonel Parker entered the Air Force in 1986 upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy. Following pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, he was assigned as an F-15 pilot at Holloman AFB, NM. Colonel Parker flew the F-15 operationally at Holloman AFB and Eglin AFB, and also flew the T-37 at Reese AFB and the T-38 at Randolph AFB. After serving 14 years on Active Duty, Colonel Parker joined the Air Force Reserve in 2000 and has served as a traditional reservist supporting AETC as an associate instructor pilot at Columbus AFB and as an active duty reservist at HQ AFRC and HQ PACAF.

Prior to his selection as Commander, Colonel Parker was the Reserve Advisor to the Commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam AFB, Hawaii where he advised the HQ PACAF and Kenney HQ staff on all matters related to the utilization, mobilization and employment of AFRC forces gained by combatant commanders in the Pacific theater. Colonel Parker also served at HQ Air Force Reserve Command as Chief of Fighter, Bomber, Trainer and Unmanned Aerial Systems Programs and as Chief, Commander's Action Group. He assumed his current position in May of 2011.

Colonel Parker is a command pilot with more than 3,500 hours of flight time in fighter and trainer aircraft including combat missions in support of Operation Southern Watch.
