| SOCIAL SECURITY INFORMATION |
What is SSI?
- Income assistance program to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.
- Monthly cash benefit is $674 per month for an individual and $1,011 per month for an eligible couple, effective January, 2009.
- Same core national amount; some states supplement.
- Social Security office in your state can tell you your state's amount of funding.
Age
- Children birth to 18 with disabilities
- Adults 18 years or older with disabilities
- 65 and older without disabilities

TA Alliance
Parent Training & Information Center (PTAC) - The ALLIANCE National PTAC collaborates with the six Regional Parent Technical Assistance Centers (RPTACs) in New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin, Colorado and California to increase Parent Centers' capacity to serve families of children with disabilities. |

STOMP (Specialized Training of Military Parents) is federally funded and was established to assist military families who have children with special education or health needs. STOMP began in 1985, it is a project of Washington PAVE, and is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. |

MUMS
MUMS is a National Parent to Parent Network whose mission is to help parents who have a child with any disorder, medical condition, mental or emotional disorder or rare diagnosis make connections with other parents whose children have the same or similar condition. |

Family Voices
Experienced families listen and answer new families' questions about a new diagnosis, help them find an accommodating dentist, or assist in negotiations with insurance companies. They help other families address language and racial barriers, enroll a child in the neighborhood school, improve hospital policies, explain complicated Medicaid rules, and advocate for better preschools. Family Voices has become a national clearinghouse of information and support. |

| MEDICAID |
What is Medicaid?
· Federal/state funded health care and long-term care program.
· Focuses on people with low incomes and special populations - people with disabilities, children, people who are elderly.
· State Medicaid agency determines specific plan, eligibility rules, and services.
· Small co-payment is sometimes required.
There are 3 types of Medicaid programs
· Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP/SCHIP)
· Institutional Long-Term Care
· Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waivers
Medicaid Helps:

· Adults in Families with Dependent Children
· Individuals with Disabilities
· Individuals 65 or Over
