On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 Jason Thomas dropped his daughter off at his mother’s home in Hempstead, New York. The former Marine infantry sergeant was adjusting to civilian life after eight years in the Marine Corps when he heard the devastating news of an attack on the World Trade Center. Sergeant Thomas immediately leapt into action. Donning his Marine uniform from the trunk of his car, he went to “ground zero” to see if there was any way he could help in the aftermath.

Family, friends and fellow 445th Airlift Wing Airmen welcome home four reservists from the 89th Airlift Squadron at the Dayton International Airport, Dayton, Ohio March 3, 2017. 
C-17 pilots Capts. Nathaniel Kirstein and Paul Kolk, and loadmasters Master Sgt. David White and Staff Sgt. Zachary Webb, were returning from a 45-day deployment in Southwest Asia, supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. While downrange, the crew flew more than 300 combat hours accomplishing 60 plus sorties. They moved more than one million pounds of cargo and passengers throughout the area of responsibility. Approximately 70 civilian employers had the opportunity to learn what their military employees do during the 445th Airlift Wing’s Employers Day held Nov. 5, 2016. The employers, joined by 35 reservists, enjoyed breakfast and lunch, received a C-17 Globemaster III flight, participated in tours and demonstrations of the different jobs and training that their Air Force Reserve employees do when performing military service. During the band, KISS's "Freedom To Rock” tour performance in Fairborn, Ohio Aug. 22, 2016, Col. Adam Willis, 445th Airlift Wing commander, thanked the band for their continuous support of the troops, the veterans and the Hiring Our Heroes organization for their support in helping veterans in need. The band then presented a check in the amount of $150,000 for the HOH program.

Jennifer Gerritsen, an aeromedical technician with the 445th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, helps provide care for wounded warriors while deployed here April 21, 2016.
