Foam on the Range
PATRICK AFB, Fla. -- The 920th Rescue Wing Maintenance Group tested one of its fire-suppression systems here today at 1 p.m. in Hangar 750. The system spews high-expansion foam from massive, fan-driven generators in the hangar ceiling. The foam is non-toxic and requires no clean up (it evaporates). According to Patrick AFB Assistant Fire Chief Dallas More, the system is capable of extinguising a fire in less than 30 seconds. Pictured above just after the test, the hangar floor covered in soft clouds of foam. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Paul Flipse)
